Kimono Photo Studio WASABI Osaka – Osaka, Japan – 12 May 2017 – the best idea ever for something to do in Dontonburi

Back in May 2017, my then girlfriend, now wife, and I had a great time cosplaying in traditional Japanese kimonos at the Japanese Cosplay Studio (now called Kimono Photo Studio Wasabi Osaka). This photo studio is slightly hard to find, but is within reach of anyone visiting Dotonburi in Osaka.

Our host Sayaka put alot of effort into making us feel comfortable and selected the outfit that most suited us. She had a keen eye for detail and we were grateful for her expertise and advice.

If you don’t want to go with a traditional attire, there were other options for the photo shoot, such as anime characters from popular anime like Naruto and One Piece and other non-traditional attire. We opted to go with more traditional kimonos and we were glad we did, because the photos taken were absolutely stunning and beautiful.

Sayaka was a great host overall. She had fantastic English skills and we were able to connect with her. During the session, we were also served warm green tea and some sweet biscuits. We were allowed to take as many selfies as we wanted.

The end photos were spectacular and we were glad we booked this shoot for our trip. In total, we did 3 individual photos each and 4 couple photos. Sayaka gave us great directions for each pose. Many of the poses were difficult to maintain, but she gave us excellent direction and we didn’t doubt it.

It’s great value. At the time, we paid 7,000 yen for us together. You get 10 photos on a CD and a nice printout of your favorite photo. We ended up buying an extra photo, which we hung in our stairwell.

I recommend booking early and having a great time.

Thanks again Sayaka!
