Love Journal Photography – 7 October 2018 – a fun day of shooting pre-wedding photos under great weather

Weddings are big days for many couples. It’s up there with buying the first home and having the first child. The day itself can make or break any couple. It’s a day that at least one person, in the couple, wants to get close to 100% right. If all the preparations are done right and the plans are made well in advance, no mishap can ruin it completely. That’s why one way to reduce stress before the wedding day is doing a pre-wedding photo shoot. It makes sense to do it before the wedding, because it means you can have a day to focus on shooting some stunning photos, you aren’t limited by time and location, and you will be able to showcase these stunning photos on the wedding day.

Imagine on your wedding day having to move from location to location and being in a rush for everything…

Most people will still get wedding photos taken on the wedding day, but these photos aren’t usually choreographed nor the focus on the day. You will have a person follow you around and they will do their best to get some good shots. However, whenever you mention wedding, you can expect the wedding tax to be added to any quote. (Let’s face it, your wedding can get unpredictable and your photographer on the day needs to be cover for those unexpected trips and costs. Frankly, all weddings never go according to plan.)

We had a full plan for the wedding. While we had a photographer booked for the big day, we knew we wanted a collection of nice couple photos.

That’s why we were so happy when we decided to choose Love Journal Photography, who are based in Camberwell, Melbourne. We were absolutely pleased with their full day service, which included all day chauffeur, a choice of gowns for the bride plus make-up session and some incredibly stunning photos both in print and on USB. We were escorted all around Melbourne with our own driver/photographer and make-up artist (for my wife). It was a special day.

We both brought a suitcase with our outfits. (Mostly, my outfits since Love Journal Photographer provides the bride her dresses.)

In total, we chose five venues for our photos, Carlton Gardens, RMIT Building, Victorian Barracks, Brighton Beach and Southbank. Of course, there are just a ton of places to choose from, including the steps of State Parliament, Flagstaff Gardens, Hosier Lane (a lane with lots of interesting art/graffiti), etc.

Throughout the day, our photos were expertly taken and we had a lot of fun doing something we as a couple would not normally do. We felt like models for a day and learnt various poses. Also, in many ways, we learnt so much more about Melbourne and some of its hidden beauties.

Before you can have the shoot, you need to book an appointment. They will go over all the packages and the day-plan. Fingers crossed that you have good weather.

A photo before the Victorian Barracks on St Kilda Road in Melbourne

There was an incredibly long wait for the above photo (we took several photos individually and together at this location), because the Victorian Barracks is so stunningly beautiful all year long. I noticed there were several weddings happening on the day we visited and everyone was just clamoring for the one location…
