Oro Bianco – Dandenong, Melbourne – an unexpected delight for woodfire pizza and pasta in the heart of Dandenong

Ever thought about Dandenong as a food destination? It’s got a lot of famous establishments representing Eastern European, Central Asia and the Subcontinent cuisines. I am keen to share my experiences with each of them eventually. But I want to shout out a relatively new establishment, well last 3 years or so, serving what is probably the best woodfire, Italian pizzas in this area. I highly recommend it. And it’s better eaten when dining in.

I ordered some pizza and it was great to see them roll out the dough in the moment and see my pizza being made before my eyes, plus seeing it cooked in the woodfire oven. It’s a pretty impressive sight.

The venue seems fantastic for this local area. There are plenty of dining options from outdoors to upstairs. It’s got a really nice ambience. I noticed quite a few families dining at the restaurant during a Sunday lunch session. It was also great to see the upstairs area catering large crowds.

I ordered the Beefed Up pizza, which is AUD$24, with chargrilled bacon, red onion, beef mince, pancetta, tomato base and fior di latte mozzarella. This pizza was so great. I loved the pizza dough with its fluffy, bready texture with some amazing toppings. The minced beef was delicious and I enjoyed every bite.

We also ordered the chicken and mushroom fettucine for $24 with grilled chicken, parmesan and truffled wild mushrooms in a creamy sauce. This was well cooked and really tasty. It had a good amount of pasta sauce.

While I was waiting for takeaway, I snooped around the restaurant and noticed how nice some of the dishes were such as the chicken tenders and calamari dishes. I was so amazed by how chilled things seemed and how organized this venue was.
