For players who purchased the Pokemon Go Fest 2022 ticket earlier in the year and participated in the event in June 2022, they were also able to participate in the final event on Saturday, 27 August 2022 between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. It was a nice way to cap off this year’s annual event and a good idea on Niantic’s part to space the two events apart.
The event focused preliminary around the new Ultra Beasts: Pheromosa, Buzzwole and Zurkitree (and of course the return of Nihilego from the June 2022 events). These Ultra Beasts could be captured after completing a successful 5 star raid during their specified times and weaker versions of each Ultra Beast were also available as rewards for completing certain Special Research tasks. A nice touch was that these Ultra Beasts were capturable with Ultra Beast Balls and the capture rate was very high.
I was happy to see a few new Pokemon available including Tropius, Pansage, Pansear and Panpour. Plus other regionals like Galarian Mr Mime and Torkoal.
Here is a useful chart of everything on the day:
I thought the number of shiny Pokemon that I managed to capture was decent. On the day, I captured the following in order:
- Numel (which I couldn’t tell was shiny)
- Unown (letter G)
- Combee (sadly a male version)
My wife who was playing during the day caught so many more shiny Pokemon. (Her luck seemed to be much better than mine.)
What I liked about the event:
- I enjoy the collection challenges that rewarded incence and other useful rewards
- Was happy to complete the Special Research challenge and acquire a Sky Forme Shaymin
- Generally pretty happy with the spawn and choice of Pokemon including Axew
- It was great that each Ultra Beast was available under 1,500 CP as a Special Research reward
To be able to get the most out of these events, I have to visit Melbourne’s CBD to be able to have any hope of getting enough players for raids.
